Bulk and general cargo reached 987,000 metric tons, up 41.2%, while roll on/roll off cargo surged 340% to 44,000 metric tons. The port now operates three mainline container routes and five feeder services covering Asia, South America’s west coast, Central America and Panama. The direct Chancay-Shanghai shipping route has shortened shipping time between China and Peru from 35-40 days to 23 days and cut logistics costs by more than 20%. It helps Peruvian fresh produce, fruit and other agricultural products reach the Chinese market more quickly, while also handling cargo from Chile, Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil.
